BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Jan. 26-Feb. 1) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
WEDNESDAY
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Worcester State, 5:30 PM: The Bears close out the first half of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule by hosting the Lancers at the Tinsley Center.
BSU (7-9) is 6-0 in the conference and swept Worcester State by four and five points a year ago.
The Lancers are off to a 6-11 start, including 3-3 in the MASCAC.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Worcester State, 7:30 PM: The Bears, who have won three of the last four games, finish the opening half of the conference schedule at the Tinsley Center.
BSU is 6-11 and 4-2 in the MASCAC while the Lancers are 7-0 and 5-1 in the conference Worcester State, on a four-game winning streak, is tied for first place with Westfield State, a game ahead of the Bears.
Worcester State swept the season series a year ago.
FRIDAY
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD, at the RCC Tigers Open, 10:00 AM: The Bears travel to Boston, Mass., to compete at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Last season, Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was first in the high jump and Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) won the 200 and was second in the 60 at the Reggie Open.
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD, at the RCC Tigers Open, 10:00 AM: The Bears finish the January portion of the schedule at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
In last season's Reggie Open, Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was first in the 1,000 while Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.) took the 800.
SATURDAY
WRESTLING, tri-meet at Bristol, R.I., 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM: The Bears will face Plymouth State in the morning and host Roger Williams in the afternoon.
Last season, BSU defeated the Panthers and lost to the Hawks.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Fitchburg State, Noon: The Bears start the second half of the MASCAC season, playing their fourth home game in the past five games.
BSU defeated the Falcons, 62-39, on Jan. 7 as the Bears limited the Falcons to just nine points in the first half.
Fitchburg State is 3-14 and 1-5 in the MASCAC.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Fitchburg State, 2:00 PM: The Bears open the second half of the MASCAC schedule by hosting the Falcons at the Tinsley Center.
Fitchburg State is 9-8 and 3-3 in the MASCAC.
The Bears won against the Falcons on Jan. 7, 107-98, as Josh Campbell (Plymouth, Mass.) had 23 points and six rebounds.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at home, Plymouth State and Clark, 2:00 PM: The Bears wrap up the home schedule with Senior Day as seven members of the team will be honored.
Following this tri-meet, the Bears will be idle until the Little East Championships, which take place Feb. 12-15.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at home, Plymouth State and Clark, 2:00 PM:The Bears take part in their final competition before the Little East Championships Feb. 12-15.
Seven seniors will be honored prior to the meet on Senior Day.
