Louis Jennings Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior forward Louis Jennings has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Jennings averaged 17.5 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocked shots in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting 59.3% (16-27) from the floor and 42.9% (3-7) from behind the arc.

Jennings tallied 22 points and a career-high 21 rebounds (11 offensive) to go along with an assist, a steal and a career-best four blocked shots in a 90-72 MASCAC victory over MCLA. He also notched 13 points, one rebound, one assist and two steals in an 82-66 conference win on the road over Anna Maria

In 13 games this season, Jennings is averaging 12.2 points, 7.9 rebounds (3.4 offensive) and 1.1 blocks while shooting 48.5% (65-134) from the floor, 31.9% (15-47) from three-point range and 73.7% (14-19) at the free throw line. He presently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in offensive rebounds and blocks, as well as sixth in rebounding.

In 73 games over four seasons with the Bears, Jennings has amassed 686 points, 426 rebounds (144 offensive), 94 assists, 51 steals and 35 blocks.

The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Jenning's career.

The BSU men's basketball team is currently 5-10 on the season and 3-1 in the MASCAC standings. The Bears entertain conference rival Westfield State University on Wednesday night at 7:30.
