BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jirat Saengthong has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Saengthong captured top honors in both the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly this past weekend in the Bears' home opener against Wheaton College. The Watertown, Massachusetts product won the 100 freestyle in a time of 48.91 seconds and was the first to touch the wall in the 100 fly with a time of 23.73 seconds.

Saengthong also recorded a split of 22.37 seconds on the Bears' second place 200 freestyle relay squad (1:30.69) as well as a 49.40 freestyle split on the second place 400 medley relay team (3:36.34).

The Little East Swimmer of the Week honor marks the first of Saengthong's career.

The BSU men's swimming and diving team is back in action on Sunday, November 9th when the Bears head to Saint Michael's College for a tri-meet with the host Purple Knights as well as the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy.
