SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed on Wednesday at the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition.
The meet featured student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions as well as unattached athletes.
Senior Colin Daly (South Easton, Mass.) finished 18th in the weight throw with a toss of 40 feet, two inches (12.26m). Sophomore Charles Saba (Mansfield, Mass.) checked in at 21st in the event with a mark of 36 feet, one inch (11.01m) while Ethan Lippens (Weymouth, Mass.) was 22nd overall with a distance of 34 feet (10.36m).
Senior Jimmy Oreste of Division I New Haven outdistanced the field of 23 competitors in the weight throw with a mark of 58 feet, ten inches (17.93m).
In the shot put, junior Anthony DeGloria (Canton, Mass.) paced the Bears with a toss of 37 feet, 9.25 inches (11.51m) as he finished 22nd overall. DeGloria was competing in his first meet in a BSU uniform.
Lippens recorded a PR in the shot put as he finished 23rd with a distance of 36 feet, two inches (11.02m). Junior Kaelan McDonald (Washington, Conn.) finished 25th (35'6"/10.82m) in the event while Saba checked in at 26th (33'6"/10.21m).
Senior Liam Bourassa of Fitchburg State University won the shot put with a mark of 52 feet, 7.25 inches (16.03m).
BSU throws coach and three-time javelin All-American Corey Stalters competed unattached and finished 12th out of the field of 29 shot put throwers with a toss of 44 feet, six inches (13.56m).
In upcoming action, a few members of the BSU men's indoor track & field team will compete on Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th at the Bates Invitational & Multi. The majority of the team will head to Tufts University for the Branwen Smith-King Invitational on Saturday, January 17th.
