Olivia Hargreaves Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior righthander Olivia Hargreaves has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Hargreaves tossed her first collegiate no-hitter in the Bears’ 5-0 MASCAC win over Anna Maria College to wrap up regular season play. The Weare, New Hampshire prodcut walked two and struck out seven in the victory over the AMCATS. She retired the side in order in the second, third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

In 14 appearances this season, including 13 starts, Hargreaves is 4-8 with nine complete games and a pair of shutouts. She checks in with a 2.65 earned run average and 73 strikeouts in 79 1/3 innings of work.

Hargreaves presently ranks third in both strikeouts and strikeouts per seven innings (6.44), sixth in ERA and eighth in WHIP (1.41).

In 46 appearances (37 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Hargreaves is 18-20 with one save, 23 complete games, five shutouts and 208 strikeouts over 232 1/3 innings.

The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the second of Hargreaves' career.

The BSU softball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 17-20 (8-8 MASCAC). The Bears are seeded fifth in this week's MASCAC Tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Framingham State University on Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at Framingham's Maple Street Field.
