BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior centerfielder Angelina Lynch has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.
A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, Lynch batted .462 (6-13) with a home run, four doubles, a walk, a hit by pitch, two stolen bases, seven runs and six RBI in a 3-1 week for the Bears. She also posted a .533 on base percentage as well as a 1.000 slugging percentage, and flawlessly recorded ten chances in centerfield.
Lynch went 3-for-6 with a home run, a pair of doubles, a walk, a hit by pitch, two stolen bases, three runs and five RBI in a MASCAC doubleheader sweep of Fitchburg State; and 3-for-7 with two doubles, four runs and an RBI in a non-conference split with UMass Dartmouth.
Through 16 games this season, Lynch is batting .380 (19-50) with five doubles, five triples, a home run, seven walks, ten stolen bases, 22 runs and 14 RBI. She has also been hit by a pitch four times and checks in with a .492 on base percentage as well as a .740 slugging percentage.
Lynch leads the MASCAC lead in triple and runs scored. She also ranks third among the conference leaders in both stolen bases and slugging percentage, fifth in at bats, tied for sixth in hits and doubles, tied for seventh in RBI and tied for ninth in home runs.
In 78 games over three seasons with the Bears, Lynch has a career slash line of .359/.438/.584 with 83 hits including 21 doubles, eight triples and five home runs to go along with 25 walks, 44 stolen bases, 62 runs and 44 RBI.
Lynch also played one season at Framingham State University where she batted .322 (39-121) with nine doubles, four triples, four home runs, nine stolen bases, 38 runs and 23 RBI as a freshman in 2023.
The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Lynch's career. She was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week twice in 2023 while playing at Framingham.
The BSU softball team is currently 11-5 on the season and 2-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain the Panthers of Plymouth State University on Tuesday afternoon with game one getting underway at three o'clock.
