Emilie von der Linden Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, von der Linden averaged 9.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots while shooting 43.3% (13-30) from the floor in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bears.

von der Linden posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds (two offensive) to go along with a school record-tying eight blocks in a 75-63 MASCAC win on the road over Westfield State. She also notched ten points and eight rebounds (three offensive) in a conference road victory over MCLA, and pulled down 11 rebounds and added four points, an assist and three blocks in a 67-59 non-conference win over Conn. College

On a national level, von der Linden ranks among the top 30 student-athletes in all of Division III in total blocked shots (42) and among the top 35 in blocks per game.

von der Linden also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on December 15th, January 12th and January 26th as well as February 2nd and Fabruary 9th.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 14-9 on the season and a perfect 12-0 in the MASCAC standings. The Bears entertain conference rival Framingham State University on Wednesday evening at 5:30.
