BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
A native of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, von der Linden averaged 13.5 points, 11 rebounds (two offensive) and 3.5 blocked shots in a 1-1 week for the Bears while shooting 52.2% (12-23) from the floor and 100% (3-3) at the free throw line.
von der Linden posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds (two offensive) to go along with an assist, a steal and five blocks in a 77-70 win over Framingham State as the Bears secured the MASCAC regular season title outright and the top seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament. She also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards (two offensive) as well as an assists and two blocks in an 81-72 conference road setback to Worcester State.
Through 25 games this season, all starts, von der Linden is averaging 11 points, nine rebounds (2.4 offensive) and 2.4 blocks while shooting 52% (116-223) from the floor and 68.9% (42-61) at the free throw line. She currently leads the MASCAC in blocked shots and ranks second among the conference leaders in field goal percentage and double-doubles (9) as well as third in rebounding, tied for fifth in made field goals, eighth in offensive rebounding and tenth in scoring.
On a national level, von der Linden is tied for 14th in all of Division III in total blocked shots (60) and is tied for 16th in blocks per game.
von der Linden also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on December 15th, January 12th and January 26th as well as February 2nd, Fabruary 9th and February 17th.
The BSU women's basketball team wrapped up regular season player with an overall record of 15-10 with a 13-1 mark in MASCAC play. The Bears are the top seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament and will host a semifinal round game on Friday evening at 5:30.
