BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior 197-pounder Christian Curley has been selected as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week.
Curley earned the honor after a statement victory this past weekend that shook up the early-season rankings. The Bridgewater, Massachusetts product earned a pinfall victory over the preseason NEWA No. 1 ranked Charlie Maloy of Western New England University.
Curley is currently 4-2 on the season with three pins, seven takedowns, ten near fall points and five escapes.
In 61 bouts over his first three seasons with the Bears, Curley sports a career win-loss record of 34-27 (.557) with 20 pins, 63 takedowns, 41 near fall points, five reversals and 64 escapes.
Curley is the Bears' first NEWA Wrestler of the Week since Ryan Higgins earned the honor on February 8th of 2023.
The BSU wrestling team is back in action on Saturday when the Bears travel to Springfield College for the Doug Parker Invitational.
