BOSTON, Mass. -- Seniors Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) and Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.), and sophomore Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) competed on Friday at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell at The Track at New Balance.
The meet included student-athletes from Divisions I, II and III schools.
Abrantes tied the school record and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. Abrantes' time of 24.68 seconds in the 200 invite equaled Inacio's BSU indoor mark last weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
Abrantes, who holds indoor records at BSU in the 60, 400 and 500, finished behind three sprinters from D1 Harvard University.
Sophomore Ella Cooper (Owings Mills, Md.) was first in 23.69 seconds followed by Crimson teammates Mickaila Haisley (Kingston, Jamaica), a junior, with a time of 24.36 and sophomore Abby Dennis (Maywood, N.J.), who had a time of 24.51.
Abrantes also ran in the 60-meter preliminary race and finished ninth with a time of 7.82 seconds, just missing the top eight finalists.
Inacio finished ninth in the 200 invite with a time of 25.12 seconds. Abrantes and Inacio were two of three Division III sprinters to finish in the top nine.
Inacio was sixth in the 60-meter preliminary race in 7.79 seconds but did not compete in the finals.
Also competing for BSU was Cass in the 3,000-meter race.
Cass finished 10th out of 43 runners with a time of 10:11.62, less than two seconds shy of her BSU record.
The Bears will take part in the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m. before returning to Norton, Mass., on Sunday, Feb. 15 for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
