PCLL-II Goes Through Bridgewater
The Bridgewater State Men's Lacrosse Club was chosen to claim the 2018 PCLL Title
BOSTON -- After emerging as one of the top programs in the country over the past two seasons, Bridgewater (Mass.) State continues its run as the favorite in the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League Division II.
The Bears (12-2), whose only losses came to Division I Northeastern and national semifinalist Grand Valley State at the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, raked in six of the seven first place votes to lead the preseason poll comfortably.
Head Coach Patrick Mulvey-Welsh had this to say about their upcoming season "We are humbled to be selected as the preseason #1 by the Pioneer College Lacrosse League Divisions 2 coaches for the 3rd year in a row. We lost 11 players to graduation from last year’s team but are adding 16 new players to this seasons roster. We expect several of our new guys to step right into significant roles in our attempt to go back to the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association’s National Championship tournament.”
Bridgewater State was 11 points ahead of second-place Central Conn. State (8-6), which lost to the Bears by two goals in the PCLL title tilt. The Blue Devils grabbed the other first place vote.
New Haven (8-6) and Stonehill (3-4) round out the top four in the 10-team league.
