Logan Cormier Named MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman righthander Logan Cormier has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Rookie of the Week.

Cormier picked up the win in relief in the Bears’ 10-5 MASCAC win on the road over MCLA. The Athol, Massachusetts product allowed just one run on six hits over 4 2/3 innings (1.93 ERA) with no walks and eight strikeouts.

In seven appearances (one start) on the mound for the Bears this season, Cormier 3-0 with 23 strikeouts and just three walks over 14 2/3 innings of work, He is averaging 14.11 strikeouts per nine innings and sports an impressive 7.66 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Cormier is currently tied for eighth in the MASCAC in wins.

The MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolade marks the first of Cormier's career.

Winners of 16 straight games, the BSU baseball team is currently 21-5 on the season and 15-1 in the MASCAC standings. The Bears travel to Westfield State University on Friday for a 3:30 conference game with the Owls.
