BSU Football Hosts Kindergarten Kickoff

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- On Thursday, August 29th, the Bridgewater State University football team and coaching staff hosted "Kindergarten Kickoff".

The community event, designed for the children who are entering kindergarten at Bridgewater Elementary School, started at 9:00am with 147 kindergarteners and over 100 football players on Swenson Field.

The children participated in a number of different activities including jumping over bags, throwing and kicking the football and practicing their touchdown dances.  The kids also got the opportunity to meet the Bears' mascot, Bristaco, for hugs and pictures.

After refueling with plenty of water, the children made their way to the open field for more fun. There were five different stations of activities such as duck-duck-goose, tug-of-war, red rover, sharks and minnows as well as two different bounce-houses. Although it was an overcast day, the rain held off and everyone had a great deal of fun.
