Liam Murphy Named MASCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior placekicker Liam Murphy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Murphy booted a pair of field goals, including a career-high 40-yarder, in the Bears' 34-27 win over Western Connecticut State University. The South Hadley, Massachusetts product also made a 38-yard field goal, as he was a perfect 2-2 for on the day, and averaged 61.0 yards on seven kickoffs with five touchbacks.

In five games this season, Murphy is a perfect 5-for-5 in field goal attempts and has made it least one field goal in each of the last three games. He currently leads the MASCAC in field goals made and field goal percentage (1.000), and his 40-yarder is the longest in the conference.

The BSU football team is currently 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to UMass Dartmouth on Friday evening for a seven o'clock conference game with the Corsairs.
