Three Bears Named to Little East All-Conference Field Hockey Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --Three Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been selected to the 2017 Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey All-Conference Team which was announced today by LEC Assistant Commissioner, Darryl Konicki.

Junior midfielder Samantha Hayes and senior defender Janet Maher were named to the All-Little East Second Team by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, while freshman forward Emma Daly garnered honorable mention honors.
Hayes and Maher are both making their second appearance on the All-Little East Field Hockey Team. Hayes was a third team selection last season, while Maher was named to the third team in 2015.
A native of Norwood, Massachusetts, Hayes notched a team-best 14 goals and five assists for 33 points in 17 starts. She ranks fifth in the Little East in scoring and sixth in goals.
In 54 games over her first three seasons at Bridgewater State, Hayes has amassed 24 goals (six game-winners) and 12 assists for 60 points. She is currently ninth all-time in program history in scoring and tenth in goals.
Maher, who hails from Mansfield, Massachusetts, started all 17 games on the Bears' back line this season. She tallied four goals and one assist for nine points to go along with a defensive save.
In 70 games over four seasons with the Bears, Maher recorded six goals and three assists for 15 points in addition to six defensive saves.
Daly put together a solid rookie campaign as she notched eight goals and three assists for 19 points. The Foxborough, Massachusetts product appeared in all 17 games with 13 starts. Daly finished second on the team to Hayes in both goals and scoring.
The BSU field hockey team posted a record of 7-10 on the season with a 5-6 mark in the Little East. Seeded seventh in the LEC Tournament, the Bears dropped a 6-2 decision to #2 seed (and eventual tournament champion) Keene State College in the quarterfinals.
