Samantha Souza Named MASCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Samantha Souza has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.

Souza notched a career-best four goals and added an assist for nine points last week in the Bears’ 10-4 victory over UMaine-Farmington.

Through two games this season, Souza has recorded six goals and an assist for 13 points. She currently leads the MASCAC in both goals and scoring.

In 21 games (all starts) over her first two seasons with the Bears, Souza has amassed 18 goals andf three assists for 39 points. Four of her 18 goals have been game-winners.

The MASCAC Player of the Week selection marks the second of Souza's career.

The BSU field hockey team is currently 2-0 on the young season. The Bears travel to UMass Dartmouth on Thursday night for a seven o'clock game with the Corsairs.
