Samuel Johnson Named MASCAC Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior center Samuel Johnson (North Chelmsford, MA) has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Johnson shares the honor along with MCLA senior Jon Greenberg.
Johnson averaged 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting an impressive 79% (15-for-19) from the floor. He tallied 19 points 18 boards and a block in Bridgewater's 76-67 win over UMass Dartmouth, and 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and a block in the Bears' 78-63 win at Wheaton.
Through six games this season, Johnson is averaging 10.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game while shooting 73% (27-for-37) from the floor. He currently leads the MASCAC in shooting percentage, ranks second in blocks and is tied for fourth in rebounding.
The Bridgewater State men's basketball team sports a record of 4-2. The Bears, winners of two straight games, host New England power Becker College on Tuesday night at seven.
