Men's Tennis Defeats Clark University, 8-1
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men’s tennis team earned their second straight win in as many days as the Bears downed Clark University, 8-1, this afternoon from the Dr. Henry Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater. Bridgewater (4-5) captured all six singles matches and two of the three doubles flights to come away with the win.

Bridgewater (4-5) captured all six singles matches and two of the three doubles flights to come away with the win.
Junior co-captain Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) and senior co-captain Barry Gorman (Hopedale, Ma) led the Bears to the non-conference win.
Charest won in straight sets at first flight singles, 6-2, 6-1. He also teamed with junior Giovanni Cuscina (Mansfield, MA) for an 8-3 victory at first doubles. Cuscina won his singles match in straight sets as well, 6-2, 6-2, at the third flight.
Gorman won his ninth straight singles match as he remains undefeated in singles play this season. Competing at the second flight, Gorman also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. He teamed up with junior Brendon Barbo (Yarmouthport, MA) for an 8-5 victory at second doubles. Barbo posted a straight set win at fifth flight singles, 6-4, 7-6. The second set was decided by a 7-3 tie-breaker.
Freshmen Gonzalo Gomez (Wilmington, VT) and Justin Lipomi (Lowell, MA) rounded out the other singles winners for the Bears at the fourth and sixth flight respectively. Gomez battled to a three set win (6-1, 4-6, 7-6), while Lipomi won in straight sets (7-5, 6-2).
Junior Ben Gross (Newton, MA) and freshman Matthew Finley (Acton, MA) provided the only scoring for the Clark Cougars as they teamed up for an 8-6 win at third doubles.
