Ava Alves Named Little East Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Ava Alves (Taunton, Mass.) has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Alves went 2-0 last week competing out of the fifth singles flight. The Taunton, Massachusetts product posted a 6-4, 6-0 straight set victory in the Bears' 4-3 Little East win over UMass Boston, and recorded a 6-1, 6-3 straight set triumph in a 6-1 LEC win over UMass Dartmouth.

In nine matches this season, Alves is 8-1 with a perfect 5-0 mark in the Little East.

Alves also earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors back on September 2nd.

The BSU women's tennis team is currently 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the Little East standings. The Bears entertain LEC foe Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock.
