Andrews Captures National Title in 100 Hurdles, Earns All-American Honors in 400 Hurdles

GENEVA, Ohio -- Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) claimed her second NCAA national title in the last three months as she placed first in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Andrews broke her own school record in the event with a time of 13.66 seconds as she edged Favor Ezewuzie of Wheaton College (Ill.) by just under 2/10 of a second. Andrews eclipsed her previous school mark of 13.86 seconds set earlier this month at the NEICAAA Championships.

Andrew's time in the 100 hurdles also marked the second-fastest winning time at the Division III Championships since 1998.

Andrews also earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday as she placed third in the finals with a time of 1:00.39.

All told, Andrews recorded 16 team points for the Bears, ten in the 100 hurdles and six in the 400 hurdles. The 16 points at an NCAA championship meet marked the highest individual and team total in BSU women's track & field history. Bridgewater finished tied for 14th place in the team standings.

Andrews is the first student-athlete in Bridgewater State history to win multiple NCAA titles. She also has now recorded four All-American performances in her career.

This past March, Andrews captured the national title in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdes at the 2018 outdoor championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
